Doug Duren

Doug Duren, a long time player in the Colorado Handball Community, passed away from complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) Monday February 16, 2004.  He was 61 years old.

Doug battled ALS for over 3 years.  He was always a strong supporter of handball and loved the sport.  He played for many years at the downtown YMCA and before migrating to the Colorado Athletic Club Central and later the North Club.

His tenacity and competitive spirit on and off the court made him a true player of the game.  He enjoyed 3 wall handball the most but was a skilled doubles and singles player on both 3 and 4 wall courts.

Doug’s presence will be missed by all of those who knew him
