Clint Parker
He was 24, and died September 8, 2005, nearly a month after sustaining burns over 90% of his body.
Clint was a natural athlete who loved playing handball and had just won the Colorado state championship in the A division in both singles and doubles this past April. He was a Hall of Fame, all-state defensive end for Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton, Colorado. He later played for a year at the University of Northern Colorado. While he was a student at UNC, he played at the National Collegiate Handball Tournament in February of 2003.
He and his brother Cody, won two state championships in doubles also. Most recently he played doubles with his father Dennis who began teaching him and his brother to play handball at an early age.
Years of practice allowed Clint to show two strong hands on the court. Clint broke many a handball with his strong blasts down the left wall. Clint, Cody, and Dennis enjoyed many memorable times together playing handball.
Clint graduated with a marketing and computer information degree in December of 2003 and began working at Bandimere Speedway in marketing and sponsor development. Clint loved the world of drag racing and was a very successful driver. Racing was truly his passion.
Clint will be missed for many reasons, but he was always respectful of fellow handball players, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He is survived by his father Dennis, his mother Debbra, his younger brother Cody, and his long time girlfriend Kimberlee Giffen.
The following note added from his family
November 1, 2005
To our handball friends,
We would like to take a moment to extend our heartfelt thanks for the concern, love and help that all of you have bestowed upon our family since the passing of our beloved son, Clint.
From the time Clint was injured, the handball community was there to give us support. This support came in many ways. You provided food and encouragement while we spent time at the hospital. Then, you were there with so much generous financial assistance. The two memorial tournaments for Clint again showed us what a caring group you all are. Not having our son around constantly has been difficult to say the least and we are very appreciative of your kindness. There is no way that we can sufficiently show our appreciation for everything you have done for us.
Once again, Thank You.
Dennis, Debbie and Cody Parker
