Donald passed away Friday, February 7, 2014. His death was due to a severe stroke. His daughter Diana remarks "Dad was still 'that' guy and I'm sure his stroke will come as a huge shock to all." We definitely agree.

Bauer. Steven Lawrence

Steve was a caring father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He died in his home on April 9, 2021 at the age of  72.

He was born to George and Catherine Bauer on February 24, 1949. After graduating from Littleton high school, Steve served in the United States Marine Corps. He then played football as an All American at Mesa University. He went on to play football on a full-ride scholarship for the Lobos at the University of New Mexico and for the Hawaiians in the World Football league. He caught the Hawaiian’s last touchdown pass. 

Steve proved to be a very hard worker. He spent his childhood working on his family's farms. He also created a successful career as a Realtor. His passions included family card games, golf, and handball. He played at the pro-level and was inducted into the Handball Hall of Fame in 2006. 

Steve is survived by his three children, Justin, Mysti, and Melissa. Also, his six grandchildren, Alexis, Katrina, Dustin, Taryn, Kobe, and Jameson.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11:15 am on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Costigan Youth Handball or the Colorado Handball Association and note: in memory of Steve Bauer.

Brown, Bob

Bob arrived in Denver in 1968 when the YMCA had a handball roster of approximately 125 players, 35 of which played at the highest level. Bob didn't arrive at the Y without skills. He had already established himself in Sioux Falls as the city's top ranked player and singles champion. Bob competed with Denver's best and won numerous state titles in Open, Masters and Golden Masters over 3 decades. Bob played Carlsen, Wood, Furjanic and Moore; the best that Denver had to offer. He won the Rocky Mountain Regionals at both the Open and the Masters level. Having competed in Colorado tournaments from 1968 through 1984, Bob placed 1st in 21 of 32 events. He was distinguished in 1975 as the Denver Athletic Club's Athlete of the year. In addition to an illustrious handball career, Bob and his wife Liz raised 5 children and ran a successful accounting business.

Mosely, Mircea

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the loss of one of the Handball family members.  While he has not been active for a while, Mircea Mosely was an energetic, talented and entertaining player.  A man of many talents, Mircea was a recreational singer, musician, and  gymnast.  A true performer at heart, he was a lighthearted and enthusiastic participant in any event he attended. 

On May 31, 2023 he succumbed to the cancer that had spread throughout his body.  He was with his family during the final days and seemed to be at peace.  He is survived by his older brothers, Nick and Tyler as well as his parents, Dave and Donna.  We will miss him.

With love in our hearts we announce the passing of a husband, Selmer, of 71 years to Georgiana; a father to Michael and Cindy (Steve) a grandfather to Kjell (Elise), Erica (Talon), Kendall (Steve) and a great grandson Grayson, Morgan (Chris); a brother-in-law to Jack (Helen), Vonnie (John); an uncle to nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Selmer loved all sports (played handball and football) but football was his favorite. He played defensive safety for the University of Wyoming Cowboys '49-'51. He played on the 1950 Gator Bowl Team that beat Washington and Lee. He was also selected to play in the North- South All Star game in the Orange Bowl on Christmas Day in Miami, Florida. He was inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletic's Hall of Fame on Sept. 16, 1964 with The Gator Bowl Team of 1950 and again on Sept. 14, 2012 as an outstanding safety.

His profession, as an exploration geologist, gave him the opportunity to travel around the world exploring for oil and gas. First in the Rocky Mountain states and then in Indonesia, Philippines, Spain, Spanish Sahara, Guatemala, Colombia, Argentina, South Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Salz, Stanley

Stan passed away on December 18, 2020 in Littleton, Colorado.  He was 88 years old.  Stan is survived by two daughters, Elle and Michelle. 

Stan was a passionate member of the Colorado handball community since 1968.  He was inducted into the Colorado Handball Hall of Fame in 2002.  

Stan volunteered his time and energy to the children who resided at the National Jewish Hospital, as well as several other charitable organizations.

Stan was an extraordinary person who will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to have him in their lives.
